NNWA publishes the name and qualifications of everyone who writes and checks its material. You can see the full teaching team on the faculty page.

What the degree leads to is in the scope of an MSc in nutrition, how it sits among other qualifications is in the comparison of dietitian courses, and the timetable for every route is in nutrition course admissions for 2027. This page answers one question: how you get a seat. Every rule below was read on the university's own document on 1 November 2026, and most are for 2026-27, the last published session.
Entrance or merit, university by university
The table shows the published rule, with the year where the document gives one. Read the second column first. A high score or a good percentage counts for nothing at a university whose subject rule you miss, so cross out those rows before you think about tests. Rules change between editions, and the 2027 documents will replace these when they appear.

What does CUET (PG) involve for this subject?
One paper and a second application. Delhi and Banaras both list paper code HUQP11 for these programmes, so the same score can serve both. Delhi's bulletin says merit rests solely on the test paper, and its press release says allocation runs only through its own portal. Delhi lists 26 seats in the category open to any recognised university's graduates and 26 for its own, noting that numbers may vary. Banaras's main Foods and Nutrition row shows 10 unreserved seats for outside graduates and 3 for its own.
For 2027, the National Testing Agency's calendar proposes CUET (PG) on dates from 2 to 31 March 2027 and notes that dates are tentative. As of 1 November 2026, its CUET (PG) site shows no 2027 bulletin or form date. Do not forget the second application: in 2026 Delhi's registration ran from 16 May to 7 June, at Rs 250 per programme (Rs 100 for SC, ST and PwBD), and Banaras's from 19 May to 4 June. A score alone earns no seat.
Which undergraduate subjects qualify?
No list holds across universities, and the sharpest disagreement is over Home Science. Banaras wants Home Science itself, and its note requires all five branches: food and nutrition, clothing and textiles, family resource management, women's development and extension education. SNDT's clinical MSc says the reverse: composite Home Science graduates are not eligible. So on those wordings a Home Science graduate fits the first and not the second, and a single-subject nutrition graduate appears to fit the second and not the first. Confirm yours in writing.
Delhi and Baroda work by papers more than by titles. Delhi asks for Nutritional Biochemistry as a compulsory paper and three subjects from a list. Baroda says that where foods and nutrition is not clear from the degree, it looks for biochemistry and one paper each in community nutrition, human nutrition, dietetics and food science. Pull out your marksheet and count. SNDT's Sir Vithaldas Thackersey College also lists a dietetics master's that takes BSc Home Science, so a refusal by one department may not be the last word.
Mode of study can matter as well. Manipal's page asks for the bachelor's degree in regular mode, while Baroda's lists graduates of UGC-recognised open universities among its candidates. Which of the two common degree names to prefer once you qualify for both is taken up in MSc Food and Nutrition against MSc Clinical Nutrition.
What can you do if your BSc subject does not qualify?
You have several moves, and which one fits depends on how far your degree sits from nutrition. A life science or biochemistry graduate may need only the right university or one added course. A graduate in commerce or the arts is further away, and no example here admits one directly. Work down the steps below in order, and stop at the first that opens a door you would actually use.
Find a way in when your degree misses the rule
Count your papers
Read your marksheet against Delhi's and Baroda's paper lists. SNDT asks life science graduates for 8 credits in nutrition, physiology or biochemistry subjects, so credits may already be there.
Try a wider list
Mahatma Gandhi University's 2026 prospectus takes zoology, chemistry, microbiology, biotechnology, biochemistry and nursing graduates, with a minimum score. It also adds weightage for clinical nutrition graduates, so expect competition.
Add the course IGNOU names
IGNOU's MSc admits BSc (Hons.) graduates in Zoology, Microbiology, Biochemistry or Pharmacy with its DNHE, CFN or CNCC-1, and permits taking CFN or CNCC at the same time.
Take a postgraduate diploma first
Lady Irwin's 2025-26 prospectus takes microbiology, biochemistry, life science, nursing and MBBS graduates at 55 per cent, with 50 per cent in four listed subjects. Delhi's MSc then lists that diploma as a qualifying route.
Face a commerce or arts degree squarely
SNDT's page rules these out. Hospital work then means a fresh full-time nutrition BSc; coaching healthy people does not, and a skill qualification may be enough.
One warning belongs here. Admission to an MSc does not by itself make you eligible for the Indian Dietetic Association's exam. Its page asks for a full-time graduation in food, nutrition and dietetics, Home Science with food and nutrition, or a degree with at least four nutrition-related subjects, before the postgraduate step and the internship. A zoology graduate admitted to an MSc should ask the association in writing how the first degree will be read. How to become a dietitian in India sets out the whole route.
What does a merit route really count?
Merit rarely means your percentage alone. Baroda's page gives degree marks and an entrance exam 50 per cent each, and the seat count on that page is 15. Mahatma Gandhi University adds a weightage of 45 marks for those who passed a BSc with Clinical Nutrition and Dietetics, which helps its own subject's graduates. Delhi's one-year MSc is pure merit, but only for its own four-year graduates. Ask what is added to your marks, and who benefits, before you count on a merit seat.
Lady Irwin College's postgraduate diploma shows the same habit. Its 2025-26 prospectus calls selection merit-based and sets out categories in order: Delhi graduates with 70 per cent and above come first, then 70 per cent from other universities, then 60 to 69.9 per cent from Delhi, and so on. A graduate from elsewhere is ranked behind a Delhi graduate in the same band. That is one college's rule for one session, and MSc nutrition against a PG diploma compares the two qualifications themselves.
NNWA under the same test
NNWA offers no MSc and cannot help you into one. It teaches online as a private skill academy, with live classes in English and Hindi. Its Post Graduation Diploma takes a degree in any discipline with no entrance test, and it is awarded with Medhavi Skills University, Sikkim, a university recognised under section 2(f) of the UGC Act and an NCVET-approved awarding body. The university award does not reach the Clinical Nutrition and Dietetics course, which carries only NNWA's own certificate.
Neither is a degree, and neither counts as the postgraduate step for the Registered Dietitian exam. None of NNWA's programmes gives RD eligibility, Indian Dietetic Association registration, a hospital dietitian post or the right to treat disease. A holder coaches healthy people and refers medical cases. So a commerce graduate who wants to coach has a real option here, and a nutrition graduate who wants a hospital post should spend the same year on an MSc application instead.
The graduate each route suits
The CUET (PG) route suits a Home Science or nutrition graduate willing to move to Delhi or Banaras and to prepare for one paper. A university's own test suits someone who has settled on one department, such as SNDT or Baroda, and is ready for that department's own process. Allotment on marks suits a strong graduate who wants to study in Kerala. IGNOU suits someone with a qualifying degree who must keep working, and who will accept study by distance.
Graduates who should look elsewhere
Look elsewhere than an MSc if your goal is coaching healthy clients, because two more years may buy little that you will use. Look elsewhere than a CUET-only university if your degree misses its subject rule, since no score repairs that. Look elsewhere than ICMR-NIN for 2027 planning until the institute publishes a notice, as its home page says 2026-27 admission is deferred. And if you do not yet hold a first degree, start from admission to a BSc in nutrition and dietetics.
Your next step, by where you stand
If you are in your final year with a nutrition or Home Science degree, register for CUET (PG) when the agency opens it, and list two universities outside the test as well. Delhi's press release admits final-year students to its process. If your degree is in another science, send your marksheet to one department and ask whether it qualifies. If you hold a commerce or arts degree, decide first whether you want hospital work, because that one answer settles the rest.
Do not pay for a test series or a counsellor until you have one university's rule in writing that names your degree. If a skill course fits your goal, speak to NNWA's admissions team and ask what it does not lead to. If you hold only Class 12 and came here by mistake, NNWA's Diploma in Nutrition, Dietetics and Public Health is the programme open to you, though a BSc comes first if you want hospital work.
