NNWA publishes the name and qualifications of everyone who writes and checks its material. You can see the full teaching team on the faculty page.

A date for 2027 appears below only where the body concerned has published it on its own website. Everywhere else you will read the month in which the same step fell in the last published cycle, with its year, and the page that will carry the 2027 notice. If you have not yet settled which kind of course your Class 12 stream allows, read which nutrition courses each stream can enter after 12th first, then come back for the timetable.
When do nutrition course admissions open for 2027?
It depends on the route, and as of 8 October 2026 only one 2027 date is public. The National Testing Agency's calendar proposes its postgraduate entrance test, CUET (PG), for March 2027 and marks the dates tentative. Nothing is published yet for the undergraduate CUET of 2027, for IGNOU's January 2027 cycle or for ICMR-NIN's 2027 intake. Going by the last cycle, IGNOU's January forms open in December, the undergraduate CUET form opens in January, university seat allocation runs from late June to August, and skill courses admit in every month.
| Route | Entry asked for | Intake pattern | Official page to watch |
|---|---|---|---|
| University bachelor's degree through CUET | Class 12, with papers set by each university | One intake a year, seats allotted in summer | CUET (UG) site, then the university's admission site |
| State university or college outside CUET | Class 12, rules set by the university | Dates set by the institution | The university or state admission portal |
| IGNOU diploma or certificate | 10+2 for the Diploma in Nutrition and Health Education | Two cycles a year, January and July | IGNOU's admission portal |
| ICMR-NIN MSc | A bachelor's degree in a listed subject | One intake a year when notified | ICMR-NIN's website |
| Private skill certificate or diploma | Set by the provider, often Class 12 or a degree | Batches through the year | The provider's course page |
Degree admissions through CUET
For a bachelor's degree at a central university there are two applications, months apart. The first is to the test. In the 2026 cycle the National Testing Agency opened the CUET (UG) form on 3 January 2026, extended its closing date from 30 January to 4 February 2026, and held papers from 11 to 31 May 2026, with 6 and 7 June added for rescheduled candidates. Scores were declared on 23 June 2026. The agency's bulletin lets a candidate who is still in Class 12 apply, so the form is filled during the Class 12 year, not after the results.
The second application is to the university, after the score. The University of Delhi's 2026 schedule opened registration on 26 June 2026, closed it on 11 July, published its first allocation list on 16 July and its second on 25 July. Banaras Hindu University's notice said its portal would open in the first week of July 2026. Which papers a Home Science or food technology degree asks for, and how a seat is then allotted, has its own page: CUET for nutrition and Home Science degrees.
What is the last date for BSc nutrition admission in 2027?
There is no national last date, and no university has published a 2027 one yet. Every BSc has two or three deadlines of its own: the test form, the university's registration, and the fee payment for an allotted seat. In the last cycle those fell on 4 February 2026 for the CUET form after its extension, 11 July 2026 for the University of Delhi's registration, and 21 July 2026 for paying the fee on a first-round Delhi seat. Missing the first one closes the other two, which is why February matters more than July.
Colleges that do not use the test keep different dates again. State universities and private universities publish their own notices, and some admit on Class 12 marks alone. No general statement about their deadlines would be safe, so treat each as a separate entry in your calendar: find the admission notice on the university's own domain, note its last date, and check whether the college also asks for registration on a state portal. What the degree itself teaches and costs is in the guide to the BSc in nutrition and dietetics.
IGNOU: two intakes a year
IGNOU admits through its online portal in a January cycle and a July cycle, and both stay open far longer than their first deadline suggests. For the January 2026 cycle, the Hyderabad regional centre's notice records that fresh admission began on 16 December 2025 with a last date of 31 January 2026, and the Jaipur regional centre later announced an extension to 15 March 2026 for most programmes. The July 2026 cycle first closed on 15 July 2026 and was extended in steps. The portal today shows 13 October 2026 as its last date, certificate and semester-based programmes excepted.
The January 2027 cycle is not yet announced as of October 2026. If it follows the previous year, the notice will appear on the admission portal in December 2026. The portal's programme list includes three nutrition programmes at certificate and diploma level: the Diploma in Nutrition and Health Education, the Certificate in Food and Nutrition and the Certificate in Nutrition and Child Care. The Diploma asks for 10+2 or its equivalent and lists a programme fee of Rs 4,000, with registration and development fees added as applicable. Each is taken in turn in the guide to IGNOU nutrition admissions for 2027.
National institutes: ICMR-NIN's programmes
ICMR-National Institute of Nutrition in Hyderabad runs two-year MSc programmes in Applied Nutrition and in Sports Nutrition, and this is the route where 2027 is least certain. The institute's website states that admission to both for 2026-27 is deferred for administrative reasons. In the last cycle that ran, its 2025 prospectus opened the form on 6 May 2025, closed it on 2 June 2025 and held the NIN Common Entrance Test on 6 July 2025, with counselling on 19 August 2025. No 2027 notice exists yet, so watch the institute's home page from April.
The 2025 prospectus shows how narrow this door is. It lists 24 seats for Applied Nutrition and 18 for Sports Nutrition, asks for a BSc with a listed subject as the major, the list running from nutrition and Home Science to biochemistry, nursing and sports science (or for an MBBS or BDS), and sets a minimum of 55 per cent for General category candidates. The institute also runs a ten-week Post-Graduate Certificate Course in Nutrition from January to March each year, notified in September or October, for holders of a master's degree in the life sciences or a basic medical or health sciences degree. What an MSc leads to is discussed in the scope of an MSc in nutrition.
Can you still start a nutrition course in 2026?
Yes, on two of the four routes. IGNOU's portal is taking July 2026 cycle applications until 13 October 2026 for its diploma programmes, so a reader who acts this week can still join IGNOU this year. Private skill courses are the other open route, since they do not run on an annual session. The two routes that are shut are the ones tied to a yearly test: the central university degree, whose 2026 seats were allotted in July and August, and ICMR-NIN's MSc, which is not admitting for 2026-27.
Starting now and applying for a degree later are not rival choices. A Class 12 student can fill the CUET form in the winter and study a short course in the same months, and a graduate can prepare for a postgraduate entrance while working through a skill diploma. What a skill course cannot do is stand in for the degree where a degree is required. How an open university diploma and a private one differ in teaching and assessment is compared in IGNOU's nutrition course against a private diploma.
Month by month from October 2026
The table below puts every dated step from the last published cycles into the month where it fell, and adds the task that belongs to that month for a 2027 start. The middle column is history with its year attached, not a forecast. Where a body moves its dates for 2027, its own notice replaces the row. Two months carry more weight than the others: December, when IGNOU's January cycle has opened, and January, when the undergraduate CUET form has opened.
| Month | Where the step fell in the last cycle | Your task for a 2027 start |
|---|---|---|
| October 2026 | IGNOU's July 2026 cycle closes on 13 October 2026. ICMR-NIN notifies its certificate course in September or October. | Choose your route. Download last year's bulletins. |
| November 2026 | No dated step in any of the cycles read. | Shortlist universities and note each one's paper combination. |
| December 2026 | IGNOU opened its January 2026 cycle on 16 December 2025. | Watch IGNOU's portal. Scan your documents. |
| January 2027 | CUET (UG) 2026 form opened on 3 January 2026. IGNOU's first last date was 31 January 2026. | Fill the CUET form if a notice is out. Apply to IGNOU. |
| February 2027 | CUET (UG) 2026 form closed on 4 February 2026 after an extension. | Use the correction window. Keep the confirmation page. |
| March 2027 | CUET (PG) is proposed for March 2027, tentative. IGNOU's January 2026 cycle closed on 15 March 2026. | Graduates sit the postgraduate test. Others revise. |
| April 2027 | No dated step in any of the cycles read. | Check ICMR-NIN's site for an MSc notice. |
| May 2027 | CUET (UG) 2026 papers ran from 11 to 31 May 2026. ICMR-NIN's 2025 form opened on 6 May 2025. | Sit the test. Apply to ICMR-NIN if it notifies. |
| June 2027 | CUET (UG) 2026 result came on 23 June 2026. Delhi opened registration on 26 June 2026. | Register with each university as its portal opens. |
| July 2027 | Delhi's first list came on 16 July 2026. ICMR-NIN's 2025 test was on 6 July 2025. IGNOU's July 2026 cycle first closed on 15 July 2026. | Accept a seat and pay on time. Consider IGNOU's July cycle. |
| August 2027 | Delhi's later rounds ran into August 2026. ICMR-NIN's 2025 counselling was on 19 August 2025. | Complete document verification and join. |
How do you apply to each route?
Each route has its own form, and the bodies named on this page all take it online. CUET is applied for on the National Testing Agency's CUET site, the university seat on that university's admission portal, IGNOU on its Samarth admission portal, and ICMR-NIN through the link its prospectus gives. A private provider usually starts with an enquiry and a conversation, not a form. The order below works for all of them, and the detail of the last kind is in the guide to enrolling in an online nutrition course.
Applying, in the order that avoids missed deadlines
Read the current bulletin
Open the latest information bulletin or prospectus on the body's own site and note the entry rule, the fee and every date. Last year's edition is a guide until the new one appears.
Register on the official portal
Create the account yourself with your own email address and phone number, and write down the application number. Notices and one-time passwords go to those contacts.
Fill and upload
Enter qualifications exactly as they appear on your marksheet, choose papers or programme, and upload the photograph, signature and certificates in the sizes the bulletin states.
Pay online and save proof
Fees are paid by card, net banking or UPI. Download the confirmation page, because an unpaid form does not count as submitted.
Use the correction window
Most forms reopen briefly for corrections. Check name, category and subject choices against your documents before it closes.
Follow the next stage
After a test, apply to each university separately. After an allotment, accept the seat and pay within the days given.
Documents to keep ready
The uploads are similar across routes, and collecting them in November saves the last-week scramble in January. The CUET bulletin for 2026 asked for a recent passport-size colour photograph, a signature file and, where relevant, a category or disability certificate, each within stated file sizes, and it advised candidates to bring their Aadhaar details up to date beforehand. IGNOU's portal asks applicants to keep their APAAR ID ready before starting. A university or a skill provider will add your marksheets and proof of identity.
Private skill courses with rolling batches
A skill academy has no session to miss, which is its convenience and also the reason to check it harder. Put NNWA through the same questions as every other row in the first table. It is a private skill academy teaching online in English and Hindi, with live classes. The Certification in Nutrition runs 3 months, the Diploma in Nutrition, Dietetics and Public Health runs 6 months and asks for Class 12 in any stream, and the Post Graduation Diploma runs 1 year and asks for a degree in any discipline. Those awards are made with Medhavi Skills University, Sikkim.
The limits belong in the same breath. None of these is a degree, none counts towards the Indian Dietetic Association's Registered Dietitian credential, and none prepares anyone to plan diets that treat disease. NNWA's short courses carry its own certificate only. Batches run through the year, so no date is printed here: the course cards on this page and the admissions page show the batch that is open, and the entry rule for each programme is on the eligibility page. Ask any provider with rolling batches why a deadline is being pressed on you.
The reader each route suits
The CUET degree suits a Class 12 student, usually from science, who wants hospital, research or teaching work later and can give three or four years to full-time study. IGNOU suits someone who needs a university diploma at low cost and can study alone, and its two cycles forgive a missed date. ICMR-NIN's MSc suits a nutrition or allied science graduate with strong marks who can wait for a notice. A skill course suits a working adult, a trainer or a graduate from another field who wants to coach healthy people and to begin within weeks.
Readers who should look elsewhere
Look elsewhere than a skill course if your aim is dietetics in a hospital: only the degree route leads there, and the time to act on it is the CUET form, not the summer. Look elsewhere than a central university if you cannot relocate or your Class 12 subjects do not fit its paper combinations. Look elsewhere than IGNOU if you need live teaching to keep going. And if a provider of any kind tells you a seat will vanish tonight, look elsewhere altogether: a real last date is printed on an official notice that you can read for yourself.
