NNWA publishes the name and qualifications of everyone who writes and checks its material. You can see the full teaching team on the faculty page.

The mistake is thinking the coach course is simply the harder version. It is not. The two share the science of energy balance, then point in different directions. Both sit inside the wider choice of wellness courses in India, and this page settles only this pair.
What is the real difference between the two courses?
Weight Management teaches you how weight works and how to build a healthy plan. Weight Loss Coach teaches you to take a client through that plan and keep them there. One ends with understanding, and the other ends with a consultation you can run and a practice you can grow. WHO counts 1 in 7 people worldwide as living with obesity, so neither lacks an audience.
| Point of comparison | Weight Management and Obesity Care | Weight Loss Coach |
|---|---|---|
| Level on the course page | Beginner | Specialisation |
| Main aim | Understand weight and build sustainable eating | Coach clients to lasting fat loss |
| Topics only here | Obesity and health risk, activity for fat loss | Indian meal planning, emotional eating, building a practice |
| Shared ground | Energy balance, behaviour change, plateaus | Energy balance, behaviour change, plateaus |
| Who it names first | Coaches, enthusiasts, community health workers | Nutritionists, trainers, career changers |
| Certificate | NNWA's own certificate | NNWA's own certificate |
Read the row marked topics only here twice. Obesity and health risk is what a community health worker needs to speak about weight without shame or scare stories. Emotional eating and practice building are what a coach needs by the third client. For fresh fees and lengths, the course cards and the course comparison page print them live.
Who should start with Weight Management?
Start here if the words calorie deficit and insulin still feel slippery, or if your aim is personal. The homemaker in Patna managing her own weight after two children, the ASHA supervisor running a healthy-weight talk in a block office and the curious engineer tired of reels all belong here. No client is needed to finish it well.
You will finish able to read your own food pattern and spot a fad in seconds. Start with common weight loss myths if you want a taste of the thinking. Nothing here commits you to coaching, and if you later decide to coach, you have the base.
Who should go straight to the Weight Loss Coach course?
Go straight there if you already know the basics and people already ask you for help. The gym trainer whose members ask what to eat, the nutritionist tired of plans that last ten days, the yoga teacher with regulars in Pune. You have an audience, and what you lack is a method for keeping them through the hard weeks.
The Weight Loss Coach course adds what clients actually test you on: meal plans built around everyday Indian foods, goal setting, managing plateaus and relapse, emotional eating, and how to structure consultations and track progress. India's official food tables list 528 key foods, and your clients will want answers about theirs, not a foreign chart. For how it ranks against other providers, see the best weight loss coach certification list.
Should you take both weight courses?
Yes, if you are starting from zero and plan to coach, and in that order: Weight Management, then Weight Loss Coach. The overlap is modest and useful, because the second course replays energy balance from the client's side. If you already hold a nutrition qualification, one course is enough, and it is the coach course.
Settle this tonight in four steps
Write down the goal
One line: my own health, my community work, or paying clients. If it reads paying clients, circle it.
Test the basics
Explain to a friend why cutting dinner often leads to a rebound. If you stumble, you need the base first.
Name your first client
An actual name, not a type. No name yet is fine, and means you can start with the beginner course without pressure.
Ask a counsellor one question
Share your answers with NNWA admissions and ask which course to begin with. A counsellor can talk through payment options too.
The limit on both courses, and the work inside it
Neither course qualifies you to treat obesity, diabetes or thyroid disease. That work belongs to doctors and qualified dietitians, and coaches refer those cases on. You still have plenty to do: helping a healthy person build habits, and supporting someone's routine while their doctor handles the medicine. The Weight Management course teaches you to recognise when obesity care needs a doctor or dietitian, so learn that before you take a client.
ICMR-NIN's guidelines say weight reduction should be gradual, call half a kilogram a week safe and warn against rapid weight loss approaches. Say this to your first enquiry and you lose the person wanting 10 kg by Diwali. You keep the person who will still be with you in March, and who tells her sister.
The reader each course suits
Weight Management suits the learner, and Weight Loss Coach suits the practitioner. Both suit someone who wants to stop passing on half-truths. With hybrid classes, live and recorded, in English and Hindi, and recordings open for life, they fit around rotating shifts and school runs. Practitioners should also read the guide for weight management professionals.
The verdict and your next step
Most readers planning to earn from this should end up on NNWA's Weight Loss Coach course, and most readers learning for themselves should stop at Weight Management, happily. Open both course pages tonight, then ask NNWA admissions which to begin with. If you are weighing other subjects too, compare the best wellness coach courses first.
