How the two courses really differ
Women's Health & PCOS Nutrition is organised by life stage. After explaining what PCOS is, how it presents and where insulin resistance comes in, it moves through nutrition for regular cycles and preconception, the changing nutrient needs of pregnancy and breastfeeding, and diet for the menopausal transition, bone density and heart health. A separate topic covers anaemia and the other shortfalls that particularly affect women. The picture is one woman followed across the stages of her life, with PCOS as the opening chapter.
Hormone & Endocrine Nutrition is organised by hormone. It opens with how insulin, thyroid hormone, cortisol and the sex hormones respond to food and lifestyle, then gives a topic each to PCOS, thyroid support, blood sugar and insulin, and stress and cortisol. Its PCOS teaching centres on insulin sensitivity and menstrual regularity. What it has that Women's Health & PCOS Nutrition lacks is thyroid nutrition, with iodine and selenium, and the effect of sleep and stress on cortisol and appetite. It has nothing on pregnancy, lactation or menopause.
Both courses are intermediate and both stop at the same boundary. PCOS is a medical condition managed with a doctor or gynaecologist, and thyroid and other endocrine conditions belong with a doctor or endocrinologist. What either course prepares you for is explaining the food side, building supportive eating plans and knowing which signs mean a woman should go back to her doctor. Hormone & Endocrine Nutrition calls its guidance realistic and non-prescriptive, and that description fits both.

Which one to take
Choose Women's Health & PCOS Nutrition if
- You coach or train mostly women, and the questions you get span every life stage.
- You are a health worker who supports women with pregnancy and menstrual nutrition.
- You want to cover menopause, bone health and anaemia, which the other course leaves out.
- You manage PCOS yourself through everyday diet and want answers that go beyond fad PCOS diets.
Choose Hormone & Endocrine Nutrition if
- You see thyroid concerns as often as PCOS and need both in one course.
- You want to understand how sleep, stress and cortisol shape appetite and eating.
- You want to assess how blood sugar and insulin respond to particular foods and meal timing.
- You are studying nutrition and intend to make hormonal and metabolic health your specialism.
Where the two overlap
PCOS is the shared ground. Both courses explain the part insulin resistance plays, both connect food choices to blood sugar and hormonal symptoms, and both talk about menstrual regularity. Both also train you to recognise when to refer. A learner who takes the two will meet PCOS and insulin twice, from slightly different angles: once as the start of a woman's health story, and once as one endocrine concern beside thyroid imbalance.
Taking both, and in which order
Taking both makes sense for a practitioner who works mainly with women and keeps meeting thyroid and stress-related questions as well. Since both are intermediate, the order can follow your clients. Women's Health & PCOS Nutrition first suits someone whose work is pregnancy, menstrual health or menopause; Hormone & Endocrine Nutrition then fills in thyroid and cortisol. If your starting point is general hormonal health, reverse it. If PCOS alone is your interest, one course is enough, and the choice turns on what else you want with it.
The short answer
Take Women's Health & PCOS Nutrition if the people you help are women and their questions run from periods to pregnancy to menopause. Take Hormone & Endocrine Nutrition if you want PCOS together with thyroid, insulin and cortisol. Both leave the medical management of PCOS and endocrine conditions with the doctor.
NNWA courses are private skill courses. They prepare you to educate and support people, not to diagnose, treat or prescribe, and completing one does not confer the Registered Dietitian credential.

Which course teaches more about PCOS?
Women's Health & PCOS Nutrition gives it more room: a topic on what PCOS is and how it presents, and another on how food choices influence blood sugar, weight and hormonal symptoms. Hormone & Endocrine Nutrition has a single PCOS topic, supported by its separate topic on blood sugar and insulin.
Does Women's Health & PCOS Nutrition cover thyroid conditions?
No. Thyroid does not appear among its topics or outcomes. Hormone & Endocrine Nutrition has a thyroid support topic on iodine, selenium and overall diet quality in hypothyroid and hyperthyroid conditions. If your clients have thyroid concerns as well as PCOS, that is the course that addresses both.
Which course is better for pregnancy and fertility questions?
Women's Health & PCOS Nutrition. It covers nutrition for regular cycles and preconception health, and how nutrient needs change through pregnancy and breastfeeding. Hormone & Endocrine Nutrition does not cover pregnancy. In either case a pregnant woman's care is led by her doctor, and your part is nutrition education.
Can I take either course if the PCOS is my own?
Yes. Both name people managing their own hormonal health among those they are written for. Each is educational: it helps you understand the nutrition side and work well with your medical team. Neither replaces the doctor or gynaecologist who manages the condition, and no diet cures PCOS.
