NNWA publishes the name and qualifications of everyone who writes and checks its material. You can see the full teaching team on the faculty page.

The mistake people make is ruling themselves out. The homemaker in Patna assumes she is too old, the commerce graduate assumes she lacks biology, and neither has read the rule. NNWA has no entrance test, cut-off or interview, so your highest qualification tells you where you start.
This page answers who may join. Which course to choose is a separate question, and the best online nutrition course in India page answers it: NNWA's Diploma. Find your row below first, because the right course has to be one you can actually enter.
Eligibility at each level, read from NNWA's course records
Start from the top row and stop at the first one you meet the rule for, then read upward to see how far your qualification takes you. Durations are on each course page. The table states entry only, because that is the question you came with.
| Level | Example | What it asks for |
|---|---|---|
| Beginner short course | Introduction to Nutrition, Healthy Eating and Everyday Wellness | No formal entry bar and no prior nutrition knowledge |
| Intermediate specialisation | Sports Nutrition, Women's Health and PCOS Nutrition | No formal entry bar beyond following the classes |
| Advanced short course | Clinical Nutrition and Dietetics | Some nutrition or healthcare background helps |
| Certification | Certification in Nutrition | Built for complete beginners, with no science assumed; confirm the rule with admissions |
| Diploma | Diploma in Nutrition, Dietetics and Public Health | Class 12 pass in any stream, science preferred and not required |
| Post Graduation Diploma | Post Graduation Diploma in Nutrition, Dietetics and Public Health | A completed degree in any subject |
One line in that table deserves care. NNWA's eligibility page does not print a separate rule for the Certification or the Advanced Diploma in Personal Training with Sports Nutrition, so ask admissions to confirm those two in writing. It takes one message, and you then have the answer on record.
Does your stream or your marks decide it?
No, not at a skill academy: NNWA's Diploma takes Class 12 from any stream, sets no cut-off and teaches the science from the beginning. Science is preferred because it makes the first weeks easier, not because you need it to enter. Your percentage in Class 12 does not appear anywhere in the rule.
If this is your worry, two pages go further. Becoming a nutritionist without a science background covers arts and commerce, and studying nutrition with PCM and no biology covers the science student who dropped it. School leavers weighing every route should read nutrition courses after 12th.
Does age matter for an online nutrition course?
Age rarely matters, because these courses set a qualification rather than an age. NNWA publishes no minimum age and no upper limit, so the entry qualification is the working threshold. A learner who has not yet finished Class 12 should ask admissions which short course is open to them. The full answer is in age limits for nutrition courses.
Do you need good English or a laptop?
You need neither. NNWA teaches live in English and Hindi, so working command of one of them is enough to follow a class and write your assessed work. A smartphone and an internet connection will run the classes, and a quiet corner for a live session matters as much as the device you use.
Every class is recorded and you keep lifetime access, so a staff nurse on rotating shifts or a parent with a sick child loses a day and not a lesson. Mentors answer doubts 24x7 between classes. If you want to test your set-up first, read what your phone and internet must handle.
How do other kinds of course set their entry rules?
Each kind sets its own, so read the rule on the provider's own page and not on a listing site. University degrees are the strictest, and rules differ by university and by year. The University of Burdwan's 2026-27 guidelines, for one, ask for pass marks in Chemistry at 10+2 for Nutrition as a major.
Open university courses sit lower. IGNOU's page for its Diploma in Nutrition and Health Education asks for 10+2 or equivalent, and its Certificate in Food and Nutrition asks for no formal qualification with a minimum age of 18. SWAYAM describes its courses as free of cost to any learner, so a first taste needs no paperwork at all.
The limit of an entry rule
Meeting an entry rule tells you that you may join. What the award lets you do is a separate matter. Hospital Registered Dietitian posts are reached through a BSc or MSc and a recognised internship, which the dietitian course guide sets out, and if you are learning for yourself rather than for work, a nutrition course for your own family may be enough.
Only doctors and qualified dietitians plan diets to treat disease. A skill certificate holder coaches healthy people and refers medical cases. Within that, NNWA's Certification, Diploma and Post Graduation Diploma carry a university-awarded certificate with Medhavi Skills University, Sikkim, and the steps to becoming a certified nutritionist online show the order to take them in.
The learner open entry suits
Open entry suits people a university timetable has no room for: a gym trainer whose clients ask about diet, a teacher in a small town, a mother returning to work after ten years at home. Over 1,000 learners have come to NNWA by this door, and none of them sat an entrance paper to do it.
It also suits a graduate from another field, who can step straight into NNWA's longest programme without a bridging course. Your first degree counts whatever its subject, and the teaching begins with the fundamentals. An engineer and a home science graduate can share the same live class, and each brings something to it.
Your next step, and the verdict on eligibility
The verdict: you are very probably eligible, so stop asking whether you can join and start asking which level fits. NNWA makes this simple and welcoming: with a Class 12 pass, look at NNWA's Diploma, and with a degree, look at the Post Graduation Diploma. There is no paper to sit and no merit list to wait for.
Today, read how admissions at NNWA work: an enquiry, then a counsellor's call, and only then any payment. When you reach the fee, fees and EMI explains the interest-free EMI and the zero-interest education loan. If you are still comparing providers, the ranking of online courses gives its reasons.
