02The difference

How the two courses really differ

The names are close, so start with the fact that separates them: where the teaching happens. Advanced Diploma in Personal Training with Sports Nutrition is an online course, with live classes in English and Hindi and a recording of every session. Personal Training & Sports Nutrition is a hands-on programme taught in person in Kolkata. Its own guidance explains why: much of its value is coaching real lifts under supervision, so it runs on the gym floor and not online. If you cannot be in Kolkata for the course, that settles the question.

The second difference is who each course expects. Both are labelled advanced, for different reasons. The online diploma is advanced because it assumes experience: it is pitched at working trainers and gym instructors who understand exercise and coaching already, and it points complete beginners to a foundational course first. The Kolkata course is advanced because of the depth it reaches. Its guidance says it is designed to take committed beginners through to coaching competence, with gym experience a help and not a condition.

The content leans differently too. The online diploma gives its time to planning: periodised programmes for strength, hypertrophy and fat loss, progressive overload and loading, biomechanics, and keeping a client adherent over long training cycles. The Kolkata course gives its time to doing: technique and cueing for the squat, deadlift and press, functional anatomy, client assessment, and CPR and AED response. Sports nutrition is a full topic in Kolkata, covering performance, recovery and body composition. Online, nutrition is taught as fuelling and recovery that support a training plan.

05Decide

Which one to take

Choose Advanced Diploma in Personal Training with Sports Nutrition if

  • You live outside Kolkata, or cannot attend in person, and need live online classes with recordings to return to.
  • You already work as a personal trainer or gym instructor and want your programme design to go further.
  • You are comfortable coaching lifts and want periodisation, loading and biomechanics more than supervised floor practice.
  • You want to take on more demanding clients and keep them adherent across long training cycles.

Choose Personal Training & Sports Nutrition if

  • You can be in Kolkata for the course and want to learn on a gym floor with someone watching your coaching.
  • You are a committed beginner or a gym instructor who wants supervised practice on the squat, deadlift and press.
  • You want CPR and AED response taught inside your personal training course.
  • You want sports nutrition for performance, recovery and body composition built into the same programme.
06In common

Where the two overlap

Underneath the difference in format, the two cover much of the same ground. Both teach programme design for varied client goals, both teach client assessment and screening, both coach the compound lifts, and both bring nutrition into a training plan. Both are written for people who coach, or want to coach, individual clients. Anyone who took the two would meet programme design, assessment and fuelling twice. What would not repeat is the supervised lifting and CPR practice in Kolkata, and the periodisation, biomechanics and behaviour-change material online.

07Both

Taking both, and in which order

Taking both is rarely needed, because the shared ground is wide and each is a full route into personal training. The one order that makes sense is Kolkata first, online second. Personal Training & Sports Nutrition takes a committed beginner to coaching competence in person. Advanced Diploma in Personal Training with Sports Nutrition, which expects that experience, then adds periodisation and long-cycle client coaching. The reverse order has little point, since the online diploma already assumes the basics that the Kolkata course teaches.

08Verdict

The short answer

Decide on place first. If you can train in Kolkata and want supervised, hands-on coaching practice, take Personal Training & Sports Nutrition. If you need to study online, and you already instruct or train, take Advanced Diploma in Personal Training with Sports Nutrition. A beginner who cannot reach Kolkata should build a foundation before the online diploma.

NNWA courses are private skill courses. They prepare you to educate and support people, not to diagnose, treat or prescribe, and completing one does not confer the Registered Dietitian credential.
