What stands behind an NNWA certificate?

The National Credit Framework (NCrF) Level-4 skill certificate is issued by Medhavi Skills University, Sikkim, an NCVET-approved Awarding Body, to learners who complete a flagship programme.

This page sets out NNWA's regulatory position without inflating it. It says what the qualifications are, what the awarding body's approval covers, and what NNWA is not regulated as. If you are comparing providers, the second half is the part worth reading twice, because it is the part most course pages leave out.
What NNWA offers, in regulatory terms
NNWA programmes are private skill courses and diplomas. On the flagship programmes, the skill certificate is awarded through Medhavi Skills University, Sikkim. MSU was established under the Medhavi Skills University, Sikkim Act, 2021, promoted by the Medhavi Foundation. It is recognised under section 2(f) of the UGC Act, 1956, and is an approved Awarding Body under NCVET, the National Council for Vocational Education and Training. MSU aligns its qualifications to NSQF, NHEQF and NCrF under NEP 2020.
The roughly 70 short specialisation courses carry NNWA's own certificate. They are not awarded through the university. NNWA labels them that way, and so should anyone describing them.
What does NCVET approval of the awarding body actually mean?
It means the university has been approved by the national regulator for vocational education to act as an awarding body for skill qualifications. That approval sits with Medhavi Skills University, not with NNWA, and it is about skill qualifications, not degrees. So the correct sentence is that NNWA's flagship programmes are awarded through an NCVET-approved awarding body. The incorrect sentence, which you will see elsewhere in this industry, is that the course itself is government-approved or government-recognised. What NSQF and NCrF alignment mean
NSQF is the National Skills Qualifications Framework. It places skill qualifications on a common national ladder so that different qualifications can be compared. NCrF is the National Credit Framework, which sits alongside it under NEP 2020 and describes qualifications in credit terms. The flagship Diploma is a 600-hour qualification at NCrF and NSQF Level 4.
Alignment to a framework tells you where a qualification sits. It does not convert it into a degree, and it does not create a licence to practise a regulated profession.
What NNWA is not
Stated plainly, so there is no room for a misunderstanding later.
- NNWA is not a university and does not award degrees. Its programmes are not UGC-recognised degrees.
- It is not recognised by NCAHP, the National Commission for Allied and Healthcare Professions, and does not claim to be.
- It does not confer Registered Dietitian status or any equivalent licensed clinical role.
- It is not a clinical or medical training provider, and its qualifications do not authorise medical nutrition therapy or the treatment of disease.
- It does not guarantee a job, a placement, an income, or eligibility for any government post.
Is the title "nutritionist" licensed in India?
No. There is no statutory licence or protected register attached to the word nutritionist in India, which is why the market is full of people using it with very different levels of training behind them. Registered Dietitian is different. That status requires a BSc or MSc in the subject plus registration through the Indian Dietetic Association's own route, and no skill certificate substitutes for it. Because the title itself is unregulated, what you can verify about a person's training matters more than what they call themselves.
What can a learner do after an NNWA programme?
They can work in general nutrition and wellness support: everyday diet guidance, lifestyle and habit change, and wellness coaching, either in their own practice or alongside existing work. Trainers commonly add sports nutrition to their existing coaching. What is off limits is clinical care: diagnosis, treatment of disease, and medical nutrition therapy, which belong with a doctor or a registered dietitian. Can I get a government job with an NNWA diploma?
NNWA makes no claim about government posts. An NNWA diploma is a private skill qualification rather than a degree, so it does not confer eligibility for any post that requires a recognised degree or a statutory registration. Read the stated requirement of the specific post before you apply, because that notification, and not any course provider, is the authority on what it accepts. How should I describe this qualification on a CV?
Name the programme, name NNWA, and say the certificate is a skill qualification awarded through Medhavi Skills University, Sikkim, an NCVET-approved awarding body, on the flagship programmes. Include the certificate ID so an employer can check it on the verification page. Do not write "degree", do not write "dietitian", and do not imply a government approval that does not exist. Describing it accurately is also the version that survives an employer's own checking, which is the version you want.
