How the two courses really differ
The two diplomas begin identically. Each opens with the same nutrition foundation stage: nutrition science, macronutrients and micronutrients, energy and body composition, popular diets and supplements judged against evidence, client assessment and Indian meal planning, nutrition for athletes and life stages, and worked fat-loss and PCOS case studies. Whichever you choose, you finish that stage able to calculate energy needs and build a balanced Indian meal plan. The choice between them is entirely a choice about the second stage.
In Diploma in Health & Wellness Coaching the second stage is about people. It teaches why someone who knows what to eat still does not do it, and the conversation skills, motivational interviewing among them, that move a client from intention to action. It covers sleep, stress, movement and routine as the habits that make a food plan hold, coaching adapted for women's life stages, families, older adults and groups, and a block on screening, warning signs, referral, consent and evidence-based claims. It ends with designing and delivering wellness programmes online or at a workplace.
In Diploma in Nutrition, Dietetics & Public Health the second stage is about conditions and institutions. It teaches applied physiology and the reading of blood reports and biomarkers, then therapeutic diet charts with counselling across digestive, liver, kidney, metabolic, cardiac, PCOD and thyroid care, hospital and institutional feeding to protocol, and public health nutrition with national programmes and catering menus. This is dietary work for people whose illness is managed by a doctor: the chart supports the medical plan, and diagnosis and medicines stay with the doctor.

Where the two overlap
The overlap is the whole first stage. Both diplomas teach the same nutrition foundation, with the same blocks on nutrients, energy, diets and myths, client practice, applied nutrition and case studies, and both include setting up a practice. Both are open to 10+2 pass students from any stream and are taught through live online classes in English and Hindi with recordings. After that shared stage almost nothing repeats: coaching psychology, lifestyle habits and referral on one side, physiology, therapeutic charts, institutional feeding and public health on the other.
Taking both, and in which order
Because the first stage is identical, enrolling in both diplomas in full would mean studying the foundation twice, which makes little sense. Decide which second stage matches the work you want and take that diploma. A learner who finishes one and later wants the other skill should ask the NNWA team how the shared foundation is handled before enrolling again. The wider question of how a coach's role differs from a nutritionist's is covered in the linked article on the two careers; this page compares only the two programmes.
The short answer
Choose Diploma in Health & Wellness Coaching if your aim is to coach habits in healthy people and to know when to refer. Choose Diploma in Nutrition, Dietetics & Public Health if your aim is condition-specific diet planning, blood reports and institutional or public health nutrition, working in support of doctors. The comparison table shows the current fee, length and certificates of both diplomas.
NNWA courses are private skill courses. They prepare you to educate and support people, not to diagnose, treat or prescribe, and completing one does not confer the Registered Dietitian credential.

₹29,999Diploma in Health & Wellness Coaching or Diploma in Nutrition, Dietetics & Public Health: common questions
Do both diplomas teach the same nutrition science?
In the first stage, yes. Both follow the same nutrition foundation, from nutrients and energy needs to client assessment, meal planning and case studies. Only Diploma in Nutrition, Dietetics & Public Health continues into applied physiology, therapeutic diet design and clinical diet charts in its second stage.
Which diploma suits someone without a science background?
Either. Both are open to 10+2 pass students from any stream, and the shared foundation teaches nutrition science from the beginning. The nutrition diploma states that science is preferred but not mandatory, and its second stage moves into applied physiology and the reading of blood reports.
Will the coaching diploma let me plan diets for diabetes or thyroid clients?
No. Diploma in Health & Wellness Coaching trains you to give general nutrition guidance to healthy adults and to coach lifestyle change. Medical nutrition therapy is outside a coach's work, and the course teaches you to recognise warning signs and refer to a doctor or dietitian. Condition-specific diet charts are taught in Diploma in Nutrition, Dietetics & Public Health, as support for a doctor's care.
Does the nutrition diploma teach coaching and behaviour change?
Only in part. Diploma in Nutrition, Dietetics & Public Health includes client assessment, goal-setting and counselling clients through condition-specific dietary change. It has no block on coaching psychology, motivational interviewing or the lifestyle habits around food, which make up the second stage of Diploma in Health & Wellness Coaching.
