02The difference

How the two courses really differ

Detox & Cleanse Nutrition is the sceptical course of the pair and speaks the language of physiology. Its starting question is whether cleanses and detox products do what their marketing says, and it answers by explaining the body's own clearance through the liver, kidneys, gut and skin. Juice cleanses are not taught. In their place come plain measures: fibre, fluids and plant foods, attention to water, sleep and movement, and a short reset with no extreme fasting. There is no traditional system to learn first, and the course is pitched at complete beginners who want evidence over hype.

Ayurvedic Detox & Panchakarma Nutrition speaks the language of Ayurveda. It teaches vata, pitta and kapha and how they shape constitution and dietary needs, the Ayurvedic idea of ama, how to adjust food and routine through the seasons, and the foods, spices and herbs traditionally used in Ayurvedic cleansing. It covers the principles behind classical Panchakarma and gentle, home-friendly routines, and ends with dinacharya, the daily routine. Panchakarma itself is not performed on the course: its guidance describes the classical therapies as clinical procedures for a qualified practitioner to supervise.

So the choice is partly about level and partly about framework. Ayurvedic Detox & Panchakarma Nutrition is the intermediate course and the longer of the pair, and its guidance says some familiarity with wellness or nutrition helps, though the doshas are taught from the ground up. Both courses are wellness education. Neither trains you to diagnose or treat anything: a health condition goes to a doctor, or in the Ayurvedic course's own words to a qualified doctor or registered Ayurvedic practitioner, and what you offer is general food and lifestyle guidance.

  • You are a complete beginner and want the shorter, gentler entry of the two.
  • You advise people who buy cleanses and detox products and want to point them towards something sensible.
  • You want to plan a short reset around food, hydration, sleep and movement, with no traditional framework to learn first.

06In common

Where the two overlap

The courses agree on more than their vocabularies suggest. Both prefer gentle, food-led routines to extreme cleanses, both care about everyday habits that outlast a reset, and both stop at general wellbeing guidance. Food and daily routine appear in each. Beyond that, little is repeated: Detox & Cleanse Nutrition explains organs and evidence, while Ayurvedic Detox & Panchakarma Nutrition explains doshas, ama and seasons. A learner taking both would be studying a single question through separate frameworks, not sitting through the same lessons twice.

07Both

Taking both, and in which order

Taking both makes sense for a yoga teacher or wellness coach whose clients ask about detox in both vocabularies. Start with Detox & Cleanse Nutrition: it is the beginner course and gives you a clear view of what the evidence supports. Then take Ayurvedic Detox & Panchakarma Nutrition, which is intermediate and benefits from that grounding. Someone interested only in Ayurveda can go straight to the second course, since it teaches its core principles from the start. The wider question of Ayurvedic against modern nutrition study has its own article, linked below.

08Verdict

The short answer

Take Detox & Cleanse Nutrition if you want a short, evidence-based answer to detox trends. Take Ayurvedic Detox & Panchakarma Nutrition if you want to learn and share Ayurveda's seasonal, dosha-aware approach to cleansing and already have some grounding. Check the comparison table for the current fee and length of each before choosing a detox course.

10Questions

Detox & Cleanse Nutrition or Ayurvedic Detox & Panchakarma Nutrition: common questions

Do the two courses contradict each other?

They start from different places. Detox & Cleanse Nutrition judges detox claims against scientific evidence and regards extreme juice cleanses as largely myth. Ayurvedic Detox & Panchakarma Nutrition teaches cleansing as Ayurveda understands it, through doshas, ama and seasonal routine. In practice both favour gentle, food-led habits over drastic measures, so the advice you end up giving overlaps more than the theory does.

Will I learn to carry out Panchakarma on either course?

No. Detox & Cleanse Nutrition does not cover it. Ayurvedic Detox & Panchakarma Nutrition teaches the principles behind classical Panchakarma and gentle home-friendly routines, but the therapies themselves are clinical procedures that belong under a qualified practitioner's supervision and are not performed during the course.

Which of the two suits a yoga teacher?

Ayurvedic Detox & Panchakarma Nutrition names yoga and nutrition practitioners in its audience, as people adding seasonal detox guidance to what they already teach, and it is built around seasonal and daily routine. A yoga teacher whose students mostly ask about juice cleanses and detox products may find Detox & Cleanse Nutrition the more direct answer, and it is the easier of the two to begin with.

Can I advise someone with a health condition after either course?

Only in general terms, and never in place of medical care. Detox & Cleanse Nutrition refers serious health concerns to a doctor. Ayurvedic Detox & Panchakarma Nutrition describes itself as complementary wellness education and defers any health condition to a qualified doctor or registered Ayurvedic practitioner. Your role after either is everyday food and lifestyle guidance.
