The short version. NNWA programmes (including our Diploma and Post Graduation Diploma in Nutrition, Dietetics & Public Health) are private, professional skill-enhancement diplomas. They are not UGC- or NCAHP-recognised degrees, and completing one does not confer the legal title of Dietitian or Nutritionist, nor eligibility for clinical practice under the NCAHP Act, 2021. Graduates should refer any diagnosis, prescription, or clinical nutrition decision to a Registered Dietitian.
What the NCAHP framework regulates
The National Commission for Allied and Healthcare Professions (NCAHP) Act, 2021 created a national framework for who may formally be called a “Nutritionist” or “Dietitian” in India and how that education must be structured. Under the Ministry of Health & Family Welfare’s approved curriculum:
- The recognised degree names are Bachelor in Nutrition and Dietetics (Honours) (4 years, including a 6-month internship) and Masters in Nutrition and Dietetics (2 years, including a 3-month internship).
- Clinical practice privileges require passing an NCAHP licensure/exit exam — a degree alone is not enough to practise clinically.
- Job titles such as Assistant, Senior and Chief Dietitian are tied to that Bachelor’s/Master’s ladder, with diet prescription and final clinical decisions reserved for degree-holding Dietitians.
- Only specific entities — state governments, universities, government-promoted autonomous bodies, registered societies or public trusts — may establish a “Nutrition and Dietetics College” that awards such a degree.
How NNWA describes its programmes
NNWA is a private training academy. Our diplomas share subject vocabulary (“Dietetics”, “Public Health”) with the regulated degree pathway, but they are a different thing — private skill-enhancement credentials, not the NCAHP-recognised degree. To keep that clear and honest:
- We do not describe any graduate as a “Dietitian”, “Nutritionist”, or any Assistant/Senior/Chief Dietitian title.
- We do not suggest a diploma enables diet prescription or clinical decision-making authority.
- We do not describe NNWA as a “Nutrition and Dietetics College” that confers the NCAHP-recognised degree.
- Our teaching builds in scope-of-practice safeguards: no diagnosis, no prescription, and explicit referral to a Registered Dietitian for clinical cases.
Certificates & recognition
Course certificates are issued through NNWA and its recognised Skill University / NCVET-approved awarding partners under the National Credit Framework (NCrF). That partner recognition applies to the awarding body and the skilling framework — it does not make the diploma a UGC- or NCAHP-recognised degree, and it does not carry any statutory practice licence.
